We are deeply committed to the long-term development of Haiti, a country grappling with high unemployment rates and limited educational opportunities, particularly for its youthful population. Recognizing this challenge, HMP embarked on a journey in 2012 to build a vocational training facility and enhance security measures.
With the support of the Charles Engelhard Foundation and generous donors, HMP raised $110,000 through a matching grant, laying the foundation for construction that began in November 2014. Local Haitians contributed to the project, fostering community involvement and ownership in this vital endeavor.
Under the dedicated leadership of Director Jean Paul Almay, the vocational training center, known as the “Centre d’Encadrement de Pédagogique et de Formation Continue,” opened its doors in May 2016. The center offers a range of programs including teacher training, sewing, computer literacy, computer repair, cosmetology, and auto repair, empowering individuals with valuable skills and paving the way for a brighter future for Haiti’s workforce.
Through transformative efforts, children once trapped in cycles of poverty are now thriving in school, communities previously parched now drink clean water, and families empowered by sustainable jobs share stories of hope reborn.
