Dr. Enid M. Knight died on Sunday, December 10, 2023, in Bowie, MD, where she resided. She was fondly known as Enid, Aunt Enid, Auntie Dr. Knight, and Dr. Knight by family and friends. Enid Knight was born in Clarendon, Jamaica and was the second child of eight children of Richard Rufus Knight and Ruth Knight. She attended Ritchies Primary School and Bethlehem Teachers College where she graduated and distinguished herself as a teacher at Homestead Primary School in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica. During her tenure at Howard University, she shared her profound knowledge and expertise with countless undergraduate students, mentored 25 Master of Science students, 15 doctoral candidates, and inspired many to pursue careers in research, public service, STEM, and medicine. She was a Christian, loyal and dedicated to her church home, St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, New Carrollton, MD and was always able to support other churches such as St. John’s Episcopal Church, Beltsville, MD. As a member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, she was the President of the Daughters of the King, Province III, Ruth Chapter, and one of the most favorite persons to the members of the community. She was also a member of the Caribbean American Intercultural Organization (CAIO), the largest, most influential Caribbean-oriented group in the nation. Her memory will forever be etched in the lives she touched. Her family recognized her commitment to mission through a gift to Haiti Micah Project.
