Sarah Jane Désir hails from Port-Au-Prince, Haiti and is married and the mother of two girls, age 18 and 3 years old. She migrated to the United States in 1992 to attend college at St John’s University in Queens, New York and graduated from Howard University, Washington DC with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minor in Hospitality Management. She has a Master’s degree in education with a major in Curriculum and Instruction and a minor in ESOL, English as a Second Language
Sarah has run her own home license-based daycare, worked in the hospitality industry, and taught special needs students and taught English to ESOL students.
She loves reading, spending time with her family, helping her Haitian brothers and sisters navigate the US system, doing research online, and traveling. She speaks French, Haitian Creole, English and is sufficient in Spanish.
