HMP Meets Charles W. Engelhard Foundation December 31 Deadline

bod-constantI am pleased to announce that the Haiti Micah Project (HMP) has successfully raised the funds for the vocational school to meet the Charles W. Engelhard Foundation Challenge Grant December 31 deadline.

In October, HMP received a challenge grant of $25,000 from the Charles W. Engelhard Foundation.  This challenge grant asked HMP to raise an additional $25,000 by December 31, 2013.  The HMP board responded right away by giving generously to begin the fundraising effort.  And in November, we invited you to contribute to this challenge and you have responded.  We have received donations from individuals like yourself and several churches to help us raise this money in a short period of time.

I want to thank the Charles W. Engelhard Foundation for the initial $25,000 gift and for challenging HMP to raise an additional $25,000 to ensure that we build an earthquake resistant structure where disadvantaged youth will be able to learn trades that will enable them to structure their lives and participate in the building of their country. I am eternally grateful to all of you who have contributed to this important initiative.

HMP will raise additional funds for the vocational school in the months ahead for operating expenses.  The vocational school is critical for the children we serve at HMP. Opportunities for education beyond high school are very few, especially for the children we serve.   We are determined to help in educating and empowering Haiti’s children and youth.  Thank you for your willingness to walk this life-giving journey with us.

On behalf of HMP and our sister organization in Haiti, SAES, I wish you God’s continued blessings this Epiphany season and a happy and prosperous New Year!

Fr. Joseph M. Constant

President, HMP
